The Atlantic Immigration Program (AIP) is a pathway to permanent residence for skilled foreign workers and international graduates who want to work and live in one of Canada’s four Atlantic provinces: New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, and Prince Edward Island. Launched to address labor shortages and stimulate economic growth in these regions, the AIP allows employers to hire candidates for positions they’ve been unable to fill locally. To be eligible, applicants must have a job offer from a designated employer in one of the Atlantic provinces, meet specific education and work experience requirements, and demonstrate language proficiency in English or French.
The AIP simplifies the immigration process by allowing employers to provide a settlement plan for newcomers, ensuring they receive the support needed to integrate into the community. This includes access to resources such as language training, housing, and employment assistance. The program offers three distinct streams: the Atlantic High-Skilled Program, the Atlantic Intermediate-Skilled Program, and the Atlantic International Graduate Program, each tailored to different types of applicants. By facilitating the settlement of skilled workers and graduates, the AIP aims to strengthen the labor force and enhance the long-term prosperity of Atlantic Canada.
